The Czech Heritage Club has no physical boundaries. It is open to anyone who is interested
in preserving and promoting Czech culture; no matter his or her heritage or where they live.

Our organization originated in April 2002 as an outgrowth of the Czech Language and
Culture classes. Marian Topic taught these classes in the New Prague community. Since that time, the group has grown from a social club, to an organization involved in its community.

In 2007 by-laws were developed.
The Club is a 501C-3 organization (Incorporated in 2016) with members
actively promoting Czech heritage through different events.

 What is a Czech?
He's Everything happy in the world with a smile on his face.
He's everything fine in the world with a song in his heart.
His is hope with a laugh on his lips.
He's tomorrow with a twinkle in his eye.
His is quick to forgive.
His eyes dance at the sight of a pretty girl.
His feet tap to pretty tunes.
His heart sobs at sorrow.
Yes, His is Czech!

A Czech carries a bit of his homeland with him wherever he goes - wherever he stands that bit of ground is a little bit of Czechoslovakia.
He has filtered out from his homeland and carried the secret of happy laughter the length and breadth of the world.
He has fought other peoples wars, tamed other peoples seas.
But wherever he has settled, he incoclated his neighbors with his quick laugh and happy heart and his spirit with a fine capacity of enjoying life.
And he gave us this special holiday.
We are here today, yes, soon your neighbors and friends will borrow a bit of the Czechoslovakian zest and spirit and become a little Czech too.
Soon you can see there is a little bit of Czechoslovakian in all of us today.

MINNESOTA’S “BIG WOODS” MUSICIANS: A Narrative on the Rich Tradition of Music in the Culture and Life of the People Who Emigrated from South Bohemia to the Communities in and Around NewPrague, Minnesota

This book, researched and authored by Czech Heritage Club member Sr. Anita Smisek, OP with narrative assistance from John Chromy (also a member) tells the amazing story of how the immigrants that came from the farming villages and towns of southern Bohemia brought
